La Victoria

THE LA VICTORIA PRODUCTS & THE LA BACA FAMILY. A LEGACY IN GOOD TASTE.

Long before our family, The La Bacas, blended and jarred our first product in 1917, our ancestors had been making salsa for generations — always fresh from the cutting board. The same freshness you demand in your cooking has been a part of ours for centuries.

But of course salsa (or “sauce”) predates our family. For many centuries the Aztecs combined chiles and tomatoes as a topping for their venison and seafood dishes. And in the 16th century, the Spanish in Central America observed a wide variety of chiles, tomatoes, herbs and avocados sold in open-air markets.

A hundred years ago in our homes in Mexico, salsa was made from scratch — our abuelas (grandmothers) had taught the family well. But as our communities grew and modernized, fresh ingredients were becoming scarce. What if we could capture our family’s fresh recipe in a jar?

And so in 1917, the La Victoria® products were born with the jarring of the first salsa, La Victoria® Salsa Brava. And as folks responded to the fresh taste, we expanded the La Victoria® product line to include taco sauces, enchilada sauces, jarred and canned chiles, peppers and more.

Today, when you open a jar or bottle of La Victoria® salsa, you are opening history. The world has changed, but we still make our salsa the same way — direct from the fields — from our kitchen to yours.
